Week #37 Recycle

The best trash is the one that is not created.
Going zero waste can be overwhelming, but not impossible, but we can make the first step forward and make sure that the products we are using are recyclable.

Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air pollution (from incineration), and water pollution (from landfilling). (source)

Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" waste hierarchy (source). We should minimise our waste and product consumption,  then if we still need to buy things, we should think about the impact on the environment that the chosen products have.

If each person would recycle and compost we could aim for a better future. However, recycling is not a list of priorities in the majority of households. Many of us think that’s recycling is complicated. Each country has different rules for recycling, however, it doesn’t take much of our energy to figure out how to do it properly.

Did you know that the average person has the opportunity to recycle more than 25,000 cans in a lifetime? (source)

Or If we recycled all newspapers, we could save over 250 million trees each and every year. (source)

These are just simple fact what we could do or how much energy or our environment we could save.
