Week #49 Shop In Second Hand Stores

The fashion industry is the second largest polluting industry. It creates 10% of the world's emission.
Did you know that globally, we now consume about 80 billion new pieces of clothing every year—400% more than we were consuming just two decades ago? (source) In the world, there are so many clothes that we could use for years without producing new ones. So why don't we try it?

Shopping in the second-hand store is getting more and more popular and people are starting to choose vintage finds over the fast fashion.

Second-hand pieces are part of the recycling system. Clothes that would most likely end up in the landfill can get their new chance in the second-hand stores. This way those pieces will get into a new life cycle.

Why we should buy in second-hand shops?
You will save money and prolong the life of clothes. In these shops, you will find pieces no one else will have for a much better price. That's a pretty good deal, isn't it?

Second-hand pieces are also part of the slow fashion. So when thinking of getting new pieces in your wardrobe, give it a chance and look in the second-hand stores first. You will be surprised by how many good pieces you will find there. It's a win-win situation (especially for our planet).
