Tip #68 Grow it Yourself

Growing your own fruits and veggies is one of the most satisfying feelings you can get in your garden or balcony. Even if you don't have a huge garden to grown your own produce, every single piece of plant that you planted and grown is rewarding.

With the springtime (let's say around the corner, as it's still not fully here yet), it's an ideal time to get your hands dirty.

Maybe you will start with one pot and then add more. Learning how to grow your own food can improve your physical and mental health, as well as the health of the environment.

Did you know that gardening for just 45 minutes can burn the same number of calories as running 1 ½ mile in 15 minutes?

Also, gardeners now have another reason to feel rather smug – regular gardening or DIY can cut the risk of a heart attack or stroke, and prolong life by as much as 30% among the 60-plus age group, according to a study of almost 4,000 60-year-olds in Stockholm (source).

And it will give you something to be genuinely proud of. This way you will also learn to add a real value to the food - as it's not as easy as it seems - something that we are losing when buying our food in a supermarket.

Every single plant counts, so don't be afraid to give it a go.
