Tip #2/53 Take the stairs
If you think you don't have time to take the stairs, think again.
Using stairs is not only good for the planet (by saving energy), but also saves your time. And let’s not forget about the fact that it’s good for your body.
Here are some interesting facts:
For buildings with five floors or less, it’s nearly always quicker to take the stairs. Studies show office workers save up to 15 minutes a day by taking the stairs.
Did you know that an elevator uses about 100 watt-hours per round trip (20 floors) per person? It’s about how much a desktop computer and monitor use running for 30 minutes.
By ditching the lift in a typical office you will save between 0.3 and 0.6 Kg of CO2 a day.
Another positive reason to take the stairs is that it strengthens your muscles and cardiovascular health. You will burn more calories per minute than jogging.
It's a win-win situation. So, who is in for some stair-climbing challenge?
